You should read this/watch the video. This is a pollster who actually feels the polls, all of them, are very conservative, particularly the media polls. This probably goes to the fact that the old GOP labeling/language campaign (read George Lakoff on the subject of GOP rhetoric as strategy, he's a linguist, very compelling) is alive and well. When you say "liberal media" it resonates, even though when you comb through corporate ownership records, the major media are all controlled by conservatives, some arch-conservatives. SO, do check this out, very interesting:

I submit to you
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/

I agree with you polls are misleading.
Nate Silver is a highly regarded baseball statistics analyst.
He to was tired of faulty polls.
He decided to accumulate polls weight them on their historical accuracy and calculate probabilities.
He believes in total disclosure as anyone reporting in this manner should.

Realclearpolics is steaming crap as he explains here
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/09/real-credibility-problems.htm

It can't account for all the error in poll but it gets a good start.
